Who We Are

Hi! I am so glad you came here! My name is Kari Hofer and I am the instructor and sole proprietor of Single Thread Studio.

As a lifelong needlepointer, I recognize that needlepoint instruction isn’t always accessible depending on where one lives and life’s demands. There may not be a local shop in your area with classes that align with your schedule, retreats and seminars may not fit your budget and online courses largely focus on a single project which may not appeal to you.

So what happens when you are working on your own canvas and you become stumped?

Or you want to learn a new technique?

Or you just want to know if you are stitching it right?

You could post a question on a Facebook page or do a Google search or watch a YouTube video but the answer may not be forthcoming or address your specific needs at your skill level.

I created Single Thread Studio to give stitchers another option: one that is personal, flexible and that will focus on your project with you comfortably at home in your own chair. In all my classes, I strive to use approaches that fit varying learning styles and all levels of needlepoint proficiency.

I have taught needlepoint and have written stitch guides at a local shop for over 5 years, am well versed in a multitude of techniques for canvas enhancement and have a through knowledge of fiber choices. Over the years I have belonged to local and national chapters of the American Needlepoint Guild and the Embroiderer’s Guild of America, have attended needlepoint seminars, retreats and have completed numerous online projects to expand my needlepoint knowledge.
